Ashleigh’s IB Theatre Journal

Blank Scripts

Posted by: Ashleigh on: June 1, 2008

During the past week, starting the 26th of May, we have been working on actions, and acting.
We have been working on blank scripts which were given to us, with just words. We were given about 10 pages full of actions, and we had to choose which action would fit best with the given circumstances we chose for our blank scripts.

Actions included
- to praise
- to suppress
- to mock
- to support
- to question

By doing this exercise, it has helped me understand scripts a bit better, and how important it is to have a given circumstance before starting to act out a script.

For homework, we were given a blank script, and had to add the actions to the scripts at home, then, the next lesson, we took it in turns acting out each other’s scripts. This gave us experience in directing, which will be useful for further performances.
