Nearly There!

Posted by: Ashleigh on: October 27, 2008

Today during our double period, we accomplished so much! Firstly, we changed into our costumes for our dress rehearsal, although it wasn’t really a full rehearsal as we didn’t have make up on, but it definitely helped us get into character! We finally got our normal room back, after the IB art exhibition took over, [...]

I’m making progress!

Posted by: Ashleigh on: October 25, 2008

Well, during the week, I developed my role as Titania further. At the start I was very uneasy of the thought of performing a Shakespeare monologue, whereas now, I feel more comfortable and much more relaxed about the role I am playing. Ms Anketell helped me work out my movements for my monologue, and helped [...]

I had an inspiring lesson today…

On Friday, we watched an interview of John Bell, from the Bell Shakespeare Company. I found this video quite inspiring, not only for Theatre, but for life in general.  This interview helped me understand the significance of Shakespeare’s work, and it made me realise that if you can perform Shakespeare well, you are basically a [...]

Today, Ms Anketell and I discussed my monologue, the meaning of it, and where to place [...]

Iambic Pentameter

Posted by: Ashleigh on: October 8, 2008

Today we started learning more about the Iambic Pentameter. We got given the prologue from Romeo and Juliet, and we then attempted to clap out the Iambs. I learnt that there are 5 per line, which is where the pentameter comes from. Basically, there’s 5 soft/hards per line, or 5 da-dum’s per line.
Basically, I found [...]

Lighting Unit

Posted by: Ashleigh on: October 7, 2008

It was our first day back at school today, and its term 4! Which is good in a way, because it’s nearing the end of the year. For our first class of theatre, we chose to do our lighting unit. Which was slightly difficult due to the lack of facilities at our school, but we [...]
