Today in Theatre, we began with meditation, which really helped relax me and it cleared my mind and helped me focus on today’s task, which involved looking at all our individual scenes and put them into piles of “yes”, & “maybe”, which was rather a tough decision but helped made me realise which scenes we definitely wanted to do and which ones we weren’t sure of. They were then placed on the floor, and we decided as a group which scene would be performed first all the way through to the last scene.
After doing this, we looked through each scene and decided what props; lighting and costume would be needed, and if there was any multimedia aspect in the scene which I could then focus on. Anything multimedia that was needed, I wrote down on a sheet of paper so I wouldn’t forget it needs to be done. We came up with some really good ideas especially with props, such as hard hats, megaphones, also with sound such as an alarm tone and chainsaw noises. A small problem we are encountering at the moment is sound; as it falls into multimedia and Ronelle is also concentrating on sound. So I think I will assist Ronelle in finding sound, however I will not write about it in my IPP, as it is an individual project.
After writing the list of things that need to be done, we then looked at the scenes and decided which ones need to be done in groups, and which ones need to be done individually. We then picked one individual scene, and took a corner of the room. I picked the scene which involved a tree, a chainsaw, an animal and a human. The animal and human switch roles, so the human is living in the tree, and the animal is chopping down the tree. Before chopping down the tree, the animal questions the human about his home, his family and whether he gets his food from the area or not. Then the animal says “too bad” and cuts the tree down. I enjoyed doing this scene, but I have to be much more outgoing and loud, and I have to step away from being “Ashleigh”. My voice projection also needs working on, as I feel I’m currently being too quiet and timid. I feel this scene is significant as it highlights to the audience what the animals are feeling when a human cuts their habitat down, and it makes the audience consider the consequences of the human’s actions when they cut trees down.
