It’s nearly time!

Posted by: Ashleigh on: March 31, 2009

Yesterday was our second last double before our IPP performance tomorrow! We finalised props and the music. We hung pictures up in the gallery and ripped up streamers for the two buckets. Surprisingly, I’m not really nervous about our performance tomorrow. We had a rehearsal in the last period yesterday, and I got given a [...]

Another run through!

Posted by: Ashleigh on: March 26, 2009

Today for our double, we had two more run throughs! I finalised the Powerpoints and added a plain black slide onto Kate’s beach backdrop so that when her scene finishes, it will automatically go to a black slide. By doing this, it will not distract the audience from the other scenes.

With our rehearsals today, things [...]

Fog and Helium

Posted by: Ashleigh on: March 23, 2009

Today, Ronelle and I were all on our own (with Ms Flood) of course. So we decided to have a bit of a production meeting. Ronelle designed the set and the lighting plans, while I thought about t-shirt prints and looked up places where we could buy/hire a smoke machine and a helium cylinder for [...]

A dress rehearsal.

Posted by: Ashleigh on: March 19, 2009

Today we had a dress rehearsal with the costumes and props we had. (We still need a couple of more things). However, we all got our costumes on, which are black pants, skirt or leggings and a black shirt. We had our run through and things went pretty smoothly! Just a few sound slip ups [...]

Moving on and forward.

Posted by: Ashleigh on: March 18, 2009

Today during our double period, we had two run throughs. Not with costumes, but we had sound and multimedia, and props. To begin with, we set up our props, the sound and multimedia. The first run through, we had a couple of technical difficulties with sound, the PowerPoint presentations and the art work falling off [...]

Multimedia!

Posted by: Ashleigh on: March 16, 2009

Today was a very multimedia kind of day! We began the lesson by looking through all the wonderful costumes and props Kate and Ronelle had brought in for our performance. I must say, I have to wear this hideous pink sparkly top. However, I have a very cute kangaroo tail and kangaroo hat! But, [...]

Clowns

Posted by: Ashleigh on: March 13, 2009

In today’s lesson we focussed on the clowns/ringmaster scene. We started off by doing our Laban walk for our Clown or Ringmaster character. This helped me get into character initially, and I improved on my walk a little bit by stopping and starting. However, as we progressed further into the scene, I felt myself slipping [...]

Rawr!

Posted by: Ashleigh on: March 11, 2009

Today we had a really productive lesson and it was great! We began by doing our Lagan walks to get us into our characters and remind us of who we were. I felt really comfortable doing this today and I know have no trouble getting into character. After doing our Laban walks, we did a [...]

Progress was made!

Posted by: Ashleigh on: March 4, 2009

Today in our double Theatre lesson, we began by refreshing ourselves on our character’s walks. This helped me get into character straight away, as I knew how I had to walk.

Firstly, we rehearsed our solo scenes. So Kate was the American Tourist, Ronelle the gallery guide and I was the Aussie Kangaroo. I was a [...]

Improvisation

Posted by: Ashleigh on: March 3, 2009

For today’s double lesson, we worked on our Infomercial scene for the first part. I felt more in character today, and I felt more comfortable with being loud and out there. I learnt the importance of team work in improvisation as you always have to be there to help your partner out if they need [...]
